Duration: 4.5h
Description: This programme leads secondary school students to discover the internal dynamics of the Earth, with a focus on phenomena associated with seismic activity and plate tectonics. By observing geological faults in the field, analysing deformed geological materials and interpreting seismic records, participants will understand how stresses accumulate and release in the lithosphere, giving rise to earthquakes. The consequences of these phenomena for society are also explored, as well as seismic risk mitigation strategies. Articulated with the contents of the Biology and Geology programme, this programme combines science and citizenship, promoting knowledge of geodynamic processes and the importance of prevention in vulnerable contexts.
