UNESCO is the “intellectual” agency of the United Nations (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization). Behind the GEOfood brand is a clear philosophy: supporting local communities and the holistic, bottom-up approach that characterizes UNESCO World Geoparks is also the basis of the GEOfood brand. The GEOfood brand is associated with UNESCO World Geoparks and can only be used in these areas designated by UNESCO. GEOfood intends to see its use extended to at least 30% of European UNESCO Global Geoparks by the end of 2023, and to 10% of the remaining Geoparks in the world by 2025.
GEOfood's mission is to support the sustainable development of local communities, promoting actions aimed at achieving the Sustainable Development Goals defined by the UN. GEOfood intends to operate according to values and strategy.
