The Terras de Cavaleiros Geopark is part of the Iberian Meseta Transfrontier Biosphere Reserve, the largest reserve of its kind in Europe. This reserve covers 89 municipalities - 12 Portuguese and 75 Spanish - and includes natural parks and classified areas of the Natura Network, which encompass varied landscapes such as mountains, plateaus, reservoirs, forests, lakes and rivers, uniting natural and cultural heritage in a wide range of environmental diversity.
The presence of the Terras de Cavaleiros Geopark in this reserve reinforces its role as a territory of high geological and ecological value, where the protection of unique geosites is combined with the conservation of biodiversity. This space promotes the maintenance of ecosystems and local traditions, fostering sustainable development.
