Cooperativa Agrícola de Macedo de Cavaleiros, CRL has been in operation for over five decades and was formally established on February 27, 1961.
Located in Macedo de Cavaleiros, Vale de Arcas. Its statutes were published in Diário do Governo Nº96, Series III on April 22, 1961, and were later revised in Diário da Republica Nº152, Series III on June 3, 1984. Its social area is limited to the municipality of Macedo de Cavaleiros and some parishes in the municipality of Mirandela.
It was founded by 13 founding members. Today, the Macedo de Cavaleiros Agricultural Cooperative has around 2,000 active members in the sections it maintains.
Our olive reception and processing facility underwent its last major renovation in 2000. Equipped with modern equipment, we have an olive reception line with a defoliator, washer and continuous weighing scale. The main olive varieties delivered by the cooperators are the verdeal transmontana, madural and cobrançosa varieties, all of which are characteristic of the Trás-os-Montes region. It is these varieties that give our region's olive oil its organoleptic characteristics, namely its green, bitter and spicy taste and its low acidity levels.
