GEODIVERSITY | 38. MEANDERS OF THE RIVER MACEDO

Located in the north-west of the municipality, the River Macedo flows through a valley with meanders embedded in schist. The high level of structural control by geological faults, in an approximate N-S direction, can be seen in the landscape. In addition to its scientific and educational value, it also has aesthetic and cultural value. The latter is due to the presence of mudflats, which occupy the concave banks of the meanders, a mill and an artificialised waterfall.
