ARCHITECTURAL HERITAGE | 04. VALE DA PORCA ROMANESQUE BRIDGE

Located over the River Azibo in the parish of Vale da Porca, this bridge is 35 metres long and 4 metres wide. Built in schist, it has a trestle deck resting on three full arches, the centre arch being larger than the two side arches, which are symmetrical.
It is also characterised by two upstream triangular-section piers and the presence of rectangular cavities on the inside of the central arch that were used to support the wooden formwork used to build the bridge. The pavement shows traces of cobblestone and is now almost entirely earthen.
It is next to a picnic area where you can enjoy some leisure time.
