The Small Route of the Ancient Ovens Trail begins and ends at the information panel located in the village of Salselas, near the Parish Council building and the Rural Museum of Salselas. The Salselas Rural Museum showcases some of the most traditional professions, such as basket weaving, coppersmithing, and blacksmithing, as well as how lime was worked and tiles were made. Visitors can also see the furniture and utensils used in homes in times gone by. The trail continues towards the village of Valdrez, passing by old lime, pottery, and tile kilns, symbols of the industry that once existed there, arriving at the village after passing through the Salselas Depression Geosite. After passing Valdrez, the trail approaches the banks of the Azibo Reservoir and follows it until it reaches the Salselas Central Center, returning once again to the village of Salselas. The Central Nucleus of Salselas is a space that has a bar, auditorium, social room, and accommodation, where tourist, cultural, health, and wellness experiences are provided. Half of this short route is part of the Albufeira do Azibo Protected Landscape Area and the entire route is part of the Morais Site of Community Importance (Natura 2000 Network), which stands out for being one of the largest continuous units of serpentinite (metamorphic rock) in Portugal, as well as for being home to the largest population of Iberian wolves in the country, making it of great geological, botanical, and faunal interest.
