STAY UP TO DATE WITH ALL LOCATIONS OF GEOLOGICAL INTEREST IN THE TERRAS DE CAVALEIROS GEOPARK
This geosite contains gabbros with a laminated structure (as if they had been squeezed and stretched), which is why they are called flaser-gabros. This structure is essentially due to the deformation caused by the transportation of rocks from the oceanic crust of the ancient Galicia Trás-os-Montes Ocean, during the collision between the continents that bordered it. Structural analysis of these rocks makes it possible to define the direction and direction of the transportation they underwent around 380 million years ago. It is therefore possible to state that the rocks of this ancient ocean were transported from west to east.
