GEODIVERSITY | 16. CARREAMENTO DO CASTELO

This is where we can see the drift which, within the Ophiolitic Complex, establishes its duplication. You can see the transition between the lower Izeda-Remondes Unit, made up of amphibolites, and the upper Morais-Talhinhas Unit, represented by peridotites. The amphibolites underwent retromorphism in the vicinity of the shipment. The peridotites are of the dunite and harzburgite type, with few relics of olivine, and are altered to serpentine, talc, chlorite and chromite.
