NATURAL PATRIMONY | 05. GEOSITES

The Terras de Cavaleiros Geopark has been recognised by UNESCO as a World Geopark since 2014. This geopark stands out for its impressive geological, historical and cultural wealth, being a true open-air laboratory for interpreting the evolution of the Earth.
Distributed throughout the territory, the geosites represent places of high geological and scientific interest, with educational, tourist and landscape value. These sites make it possible to observe and understand geological phenomena that mark the history of the planet, such as unique rock formations, tectonic structures and traces of ancient geodynamic activities.
Among the 43 geosites identified in the territory, these sites not only allow the study of geology, but also provide unique experiences in contact with nature, in a setting of great natural beauty.
