ROUTES | 16. CORREDOR VERDE DE VALE PRADOS

The Vale PT de Prados Small Green Corridor Route begins and ends at the information panel located in the center of Macedo de Cavaleiros, in front of the Terras de Cavaleiros Geopark and Tourism information office (Casa Falcão). This route heads towards Vale de Prados, where you'll find the Church of São Jerónimo and the Pelourinho (a monument classified as a building of public interest), then enters the areas of the Protected Landscape of the Albufeira do Azibo and the Morais Site of Community Importance (Natura 2000 Network), The latter stands out for being one of the largest continuous units of serpentinite (metamorphic rock) in Portugal, as well as for being home to the country's largest Iberian wolf population, which gives it great geological, botanical and wildlife interest. Amongst groves, olive groves and cultivated fields, the route continues to the reservoir and returns to the town of Macedo de Cavaleiros, passing through Vale de Prados again. The Azibo reservoir is part of the Sabor river basin and stands out for its environmental quality, scenic beauty and its two river beaches
