ROUTES | 03. ROTA DO FACHO

The Small Facho Route begins and ends in the village square of Pinhovelo, where you can see the pillory, the fountain, and typical stone houses with wooden balconies. The route circles the Serra do Facho, initially along the slope facing the village of Cortiços, until it reaches the end of a water channel coming from the Albufeira do Azibo reservoir. It continues to circle the Serra do Facho, now along the slope facing the village of Travanca, and after leaving the water channel, it heads towards Pinhovelo, passing by a group of well-preserved dovecotes. This short route crosses the parishes of Amendoeira, Carrapatas, and Cortiços, rewarding those who walk it with beautiful panoramic views of the Serra de Bornes, as well as agroforestry areas with olive, chestnut, and cork oak trees. In the vicinity of this short route, the Terronha de Pinhovelo site stands out as a Site of Public Interest overlooking the village of Pinhovelo, inhabited at least from the Iron Age until the 5th century AD.
