The road embankments between Morais and Lagoa contain phyllites, part of a sequence that includes other types of schist. These schists resulted from the metamorphism of clay sediments deposited in the ancient Galicia Trás-os-Montes ocean, near the Armórica continent. The structural analysis of these rocks also makes it possible to interpret the direction and direction of the transportation they underwent around 380 million years ago, from the Armorican margin to their current position. This movement took place from north-northwest to south-southeast, when the Galicia Trás-os-Montes ocean closed.
