GEODIVERSITY | 23. WATERS OF ESCARLEDO

A sulphuric hot spring with spa ruins, located about 4 km from the village of Olmos, on the River Azibo. The main spring occurs in amphibolites, on the right bank of the river, about 2 meters from its bed, on an oblique fault oriented N60-70E, and the water is collected in a small tank. There are signs of other springs due to the presence of whitish streaks near the diaclasses (Machado, 2009). This site is also of geomorphological interest, as it is possible to see the valley of the River Azibo, where it is more steeply inclined.
